Saina Nehwal Joins Suharth Foundation as Social Ambassador to Empower 1 Million Girls Through Sustainable Menstrual Hygiene

Hyderabad Chapter of ‘Chai with Saina’ Marks the Beginning of a Nationwide Movement Against Period Poverty

Hyderabad, September 2026:

What began with a cup of chai in Hyderabad has now opened the door to a much larger conversation around menstrual health, dignity, sustainability and collective action.

Suharth Foundation successfully hosted “Chai with Saina – A Cup of Tea. A Conversation. A Cause.” at Medicover Hospitals, Financial District, Hyderabad, bringing together government representatives, healthcare leaders, senior doctors, CSR professionals, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, celebrities, media personalities and changemakers around one shared objective — empowering underprivileged girls and women through Sustainable Menstrual Hygiene.

The Hyderabad chapter also marked an important milestone for the Foundation as Saina Nehwal, Former World No. 1 and Badminton Champion, joined Suharth Foundation as its Social Ambassador, lending her voice and presence to a cause that directly impacts the health, education, confidence and dignity of millions of girls and women.

Under Mission 2030, Suharth Foundation has set an ambitious goal of empowering 1 Million girls and women through Sustainable Menstrual Hygiene, while working towards a future where period poverty no longer prevents girls from living, learning and participating with dignity.

Leading this movement is Hiteshi Dutta, Founder of Suharth Foundation, popularly known as the “Padwoman of India,” who has been working to take menstrual hygiene conversations beyond awareness and towards meaningful access and action.

From Awareness to Access

A key focus of Chai with Saina was ensuring that the conversation translated into tangible support.

Young girls from government schools received organic menstrual hygiene pads and Sustainable Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Booklets, covering menstrual health, hygiene, sustainability, dignity and POCSO awareness.

Suharth Foundation's approach is built around three interconnected pillars:

Advocacy. Awareness. Access.

The objective is not simply to provide a menstrual product. It is to ensure that a girl understands her menstrual cycle, has access to appropriate products and information, and can manage menstruation with dignity.

A Collective of Partners

The Hyderabad chapter received support from organisations and brands including Medicover Hospitals, Ecozen Organic Pads, Eraya Fertility, Kibo Group of Companies, Endometriosis Foundation of India (EFI), Rentokil Initial Hygiene India, AI Anytime, Pinkmoon Gifts, Kalories, Hyderabadi Chai Adda, Flawsome, TAL Radio, Indfame, Branwalton School, HealthNavig, Naree Health and SumanTV, among others.

Several partners also expressed commitments extending beyond Hyd.

AI Anytime joined the cause with a commitment to support 1,000 girls with one full year of access and awareness, while Rentokil Initial Hygiene India committed to distributing 50,000 organic pads along with awareness booklets, supporting the Foundation's longer-term menstrual hygiene Advocacy. Flawsome also came forward in the support for 200 underprivileged girls through their Organic Pads.

Eraya Fertility, Kibo Group and Indfame also joined hands with Suharth Foundation with an intention to continue supporting the movement beyond Hyderabad.

Hyderabad Was Only the Beginning

For Suharth Foundation, Chai with Saina is not intended to remain a one-city initiative.

The Hyderabad chapter is the beginning of a larger journey to take this conversation to cities and communities across India, bringing together CSR leaders, corporates, healthcare professionals, foundations, philanthropists, institutions and community organisations.

The vision is clear:

MISSION 2030 — 1 MILLION GIRLS & WOMEN.

And the Invitation is open.

Global brands, CSR leaders, philanthropists, corporates, foundations, healthcare institutions and individuals who believe that every girl deserves menstrual health, access and dignity are invited to become part of the movement.
