Seven Years Into a Tech Career, Atul Anand Continues to Chase Excellence on the Track

Bengaluru, 2026 — For many athletes, the transition into a full-time corporate career marks the end of competitive sport. The increasing demands of work, longer responsibilities and changing priorities often make it difficult to continue training at an elite level.

For Atul Anand, however, the story has been different.

This year marks seven years of his professional journey, one that has taken him from the early days of engineering into his current role as a Services Solutions Architect at World Wide Technology. Alongside that career, he has continued competing as a national-level sprinter, proving that passion does not have to end when professional life begins.

Every year has brought greater responsibility at work. New projects, global stakeholders and growing expectations have made balancing life increasingly challenging. Yet, Anand has remained committed to the sport that has shaped him since his early years.

"There isn't a perfect balance," Anand said. "Some weeks are harder than others, but I've learned that consistency matters more than perfection."

Unlike athletes who begin full-time training in their teenage years, Anand's journey has followed a different path. Building a stable career came first, not because he was forced to choose, but because he believed it would allow him to pursue athletics on his own terms.

"I wanted to build a life where I never had to give up one dream for another," he said.

That decision meant accepting a different timeline.

While others could dedicate every hour to training, Anand had to make every session count. Progress was often slower, and improvements came through patience rather than volume. But instead of comparing his journey with others, he focused on becoming better season after season.

Over the years, that approach has produced consistent results. National championship appearances, multiple state titles and continued performances at the highest level have demonstrated that sustained progress is possible, even with the demands of a full-time profession.

Those who know Anand say his greatest strength is not speed alone, but persistence.

"He never looks for excuses," said a fellow athlete. "Whether work is hectic or training is difficult, he shows up. That's what separates him."

Looking back on seven years, Anand believes the journey has taught him lessons that extend beyond athletics.

"Sport has made me a better professional, and my professional career has made me a better athlete. Both have taught me discipline, resilience and how to perform under pressure."

Today, as he enters another season, Anand measures success differently.

The goal is no longer simply to collect medals, but to continue proving that growth has no fixed timeline.

"There are still things I want to achieve. I'm still learning, still improving and still hungry. As long as I can step onto the track with purpose, I'll keep competing."

Seven years into his corporate career, Atul Anand has no plans to slow down. If anything, the journey has reinforced a simple belief:

Dreams don't come with an expiry date. They only ask for commitment.
