Millions of People Dying Each Year Due to Bad Lifestyle: WHO Report

“43 million people die each year due to lifestyle diseases,” WHO studies recently published. This is almost 70% of total deaths on the planet.

Dr. Vijay Deshmukh, best-selling author of the book “Work-Life Balance,” addressed a corporate seminar advising them on the importance of a healthy work culture at companies. He said millions of others are suffering silently due to lost work-life balance.

WHO-ILO has recently published data: if you are working more than 55 hours per week, you have a huge risk of heart attack. In India, this must be more, as thousands of cases/deaths go unreported, so no one gets to know of the cases/deaths.

The root cause of the death is lifestyle.

Dr. Vijay Deshmukh, author, published his book “Work-Life Balance” in 2023, where he explained step by step what needs to be done to take care of yourself. Realization that you are affected by lost work-life balance shows early signs as irritability, exhaustion, cynicism, and inability to focus on work.

When you take stress very often, it is an alarm stage. Early recognition is an alarm stage. You can avoid “burn-out”, a condition accepted by WHO. If you don't re-organise your work-life balance, possibly you are heading towards multiple health problems & diseases like diabetes mellitus, blood pressure, heart disease.

Author Dr. Vijay Deshmukh advises and advocates compartmentalizing professional life, personal life, family life. It is an important coping mechanism. WHO-ILO has recommended/been advising for most organisations to follow working hours of not more than 40 hrs.
